Do they know it's Easter?

Saturday, April 7, 2007

The countdown has begun. Only a couple more hours till Easter. This year [as well as the last five years] something is missing... That something is the Touch. The touch of holiday spirit, that is.

The eggs are on the table. Candles are still stable at a 90 degree angle [perfect]. The cakes are stored at -10C in the fridge. The national television broadcasts the fifth rerun of "Jesus of Nazareth" [the Zefirelli version]. Angry neighbours toil to have their pastry finished in time for the 8 o'clock movie [which is "Jesus of Nazareth"]. As Alanis Moriestte's song says, "What it all comes down to?". I mean, plastic, pastry and reruns? This is not Easter! This is some kind of pastry-rerun day. Sadly, this is the truth. The magic of celebration has been long lost.

However, there is one thing that still stands. Family. Maybe this is the whole purpose of a celebration. To be together with the family. Because the family is the most important thing to a man [after God].

All things said, I would like to wish you a Happy Easter! and may the celebration of Jesus' Resurrection bring a ray of light into your souls! Cheers!
